Johan Maurer hasn’t seen Jesus (yet)
I’m in community with people who have seen Jesus, and, really, that’s good enough for me… When I love and trust and am in fellowship with others, their testimony in some sense becomes ours, held in common. Likewise, my struggles and victories are also ours.

Nancy Thomas on being a “Weighty Friend”
I love the old terms, even the archaic ones. Some of them carry an ambience of holiness, order, and, yes, Quaker culture. Some of them still manage to be useful, even after all these years. Maybe “weighty Friend” is one of these.

And yet, though I have the ability to laugh at our process and to see its shortcomings, I still believe this process is the best one I’ve encountered. It’s absurd to assume people can actually hear the Spirit, but if we don’t believe this, what’s the point of faith?

Gil S on knitting Friends
Over the next three years we read, researched and wrote. We met together to talk, edit and make decisions. During that process some of us also knitted and in the end we joked that we had produced not only a lecture and a book but several sweaters.
